Frequently Asked Questions

How do I import photos into Orbital Gallery?
You can import photos in several ways: use the folder icon to browse Files/iCloud Drive/network drives, or use the photo stack icon to import directly from your Photos library. The app supports PNG, JPEG, GIF, and HEIC formats.
Can I access photos from network drives or SMB shares?
Yes! Orbital Gallery supports importing from network drives, SMB shares, and any location accessible through the Files app on your Vision Pro.
How do I control the gallery once it's running?
Use the control panel to adjust ring radius, item scale, rotation speed, number of rings, and more. You can pause/play rotation, change direction with the back/forward buttons, and even dim the environment for better viewing.
What is Auto-Stack mode?
Auto-Stack automatically arranges your photos into multiple rings as your collection grows. When disabled, you can manually set the number of rings. This helps organize large photo collections into manageable, beautiful arrangements.
How do I view individual photos in detail?
Simply tap on any photo to open it in spotlight mode. In this mode, you can drag to reposition the image and use pinch gestures to zoom in and out for detailed viewing.
Can I sort my photos?
Yes! You can sort photos by date modified, date created, or name. Use the ASC button to switch between ascending and descending order. Photos from the Photos app maintain their selection order unless you choose a different sort option.
What is the Height control for?
The Height control lets you move the ring stack vertically relative to your eye level. When you have multiple rings, you can also enable Auto-Scroll to automatically move through the vertical space, giving you a dynamic viewing experience.
How does the environment dimmer work?
The environment dimmer creates a darkened dome around your gallery, reducing distractions and improving photo contrast. You can adjust from 0% (off) to 100% (fully black) or use the preset buttons for quick adjustments.
Can I hide the control panels while viewing?
Yes! Use the eye/eye-slash button to hide or show the control panels for an unobstructed view of your photos. You can also hide the entire gallery temporarily while keeping the controls visible.
What does the "Center" button do?
The Center button aligns the ring stack's midpoint to your current eye level without moving the gallery horizontally. This is useful for recentering the view after adjusting the height or moving around in your space.
How do I reset the gallery?
Use the "Reset Gallery" button to clear all loaded images and return to the initial state. This is useful when you want to start fresh with a new set of photos.
What image formats are supported?
Orbital Gallery supports PNG, JPEG, GIF (non-animated), HEIC, HEIF, and WebP formats. HEIC orientation is automatically preserved when importing from the Photos library.
Can I use photos from iCloud?
Yes! You can access iCloud photos through both the Photos app integration and the Files app browser. Make sure your photos are downloaded locally for the best performance.
Why are some photos loading slowly?
Large image files or photos stored on network drives may take longer to load. The app processes images in batches and shows a loading indicator. For best performance, use locally stored images when possible.
What does "Clear Cache" do?
Clear Cache removes temporary files used for importing from network drives and SMB shares. Use this if you're experiencing import issues or want to free up storage space.
Can I change the rotation speed?
Yes! Use the Speed slider to adjust rotation from 0 to 20 degrees per second. You can also pause rotation entirely or change direction using the transport controls.
How many photos can I load at once?
Orbital Gallery can handle large collections of photos. The app automatically organizes them into multiple rings and loads them in batches for optimal performance. Auto-Stack mode helps manage very large collections efficiently.
Is my data private and secure?
Absolutely! Orbital Gallery processes all photos locally on your Vision Pro. No images are uploaded to external servers. Network drive access uses standard secure protocols, and temporary files are only stored locally.
Can I use Orbital Gallery with external storage?
Yes! The app works with any storage accessible through the Files app, including external drives, NAS devices, and cloud storage services that integrate with Files.
What should I do if the app crashes or freezes?
First, try restarting the app. If issues persist, try clearing the cache, reducing the number of photos loaded at once, or restarting your Vision Pro. Contact support if problems continue.
